A former Fort Recovery police chief pleaded not guilty to charges of menacing by stalking and aggravated menacing on Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court, according to Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Matt Fox.
James A. Champ, 70, of Fort Recovery, had been in jail since his arrest in September, but was released Wednesday on his own recognizance by Judge Jeffrey Ingraham. He originally was held on a $250,000 bond, which would have required him to post 10 percent. [More]

Commissioners are expected to award contract in December
Four area businesses have submitted bids to Mercer County commissioners to provide a wide range of telecommunication services for the county.
Commissioners opened the sealed bids on Thursday and will review the proposals before making their selection sometime in December.
