COLUMBUS - There were just six events featuring Grand Lake area athletes on Saturday at the running finals of the Division III state track meet at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus.
The highest-placing local boys teams were Minster and New Bremen, which finished 15th and 19th, respectively in the team standings. [More]

CELINA - Charges are pending against two Celina men in the wake of an investigation involving several break-ins at area businesses and the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of tools.
CELINA - It's another summer morning of dive team practice at Bryson Pool in Celina. A long line of kids is waiting at the low diving board to practice techniques. It could take 15 minutes before they actually get on the board.

GRAND LAKE - Officials with the Grand Lake Restoration Initiative are looking into the possibility of forming a conservancy group to continue work aimed at improving the lake's water quality.
GRAND LAKE - Officials from the U.S. Geological Survey this week will take over some summer water testing duties from local state park officials.
The reason: to create a quicker system for determining E. coli bacteria levels and swimming conditions in Grand Lake.
After having their opening exhibition doubleheader washed out on Saturday, the Grand Lake Mariners opened their season to mixed reviews on Sunday afternoon as they swept the Portland Rockets, 4-2 and 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Jim Hoess Field.
