Communities suing over amount charged

ST. MARYS - City officials recently learned the city will be billed $2.7 million for terminating a contract it had with a nonprofit corporation to build a coal-fired power plant.
In 2009, American Municipal Power (AMP) member communities in Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia and Virginia agreed to construct a base-load coal power plant in Meigs County. The plant would have supplied electricity to 81 member communities, which include St. Marys, Celina, New Bremen and Minster. [More]
Lake Restoration Commission

GRAND LAKE - Lake Restoration Commission (LRC) members plan to meet with state directors Jan. 19 to discuss the status of ongoing projects to restore Grand Lake.
Invited will be directors of the Ohio EPA and departments of agriculture and natural resources, a governor's office representative and the LRC's consultant, Battelle, Milt Miller told those attending the Lake Development Corporation (LDC) meeting Monday. Miller is president of the LDC and fundraising chairman for the LRC. [More]
