Couple buy industrial lot to expand business

FORT RECOVERY - A Fort Recovery couple plan to move their home business into the Fort Recovery Industrial Park West.
Village administrator Randy Diller told council members on Monday night the town is in the process of transferring the industrial lot deed to Lynn Faller, who along with her husband, Chad, operate Faller Mechanical out of their home on St. Joe Road.
Council members last month authorized the sale of about 2.5 acres of land in the industrial park to the Fallers for $10,000 an acre. The fully-developed lots include hookups for utilities.
Diller said the couple intend to construct a new facility this fall. He did not say how large the building will be or how many people will be employed by the business.
Calls to the couple went unreturned this morning.
According to the Faller Mechanical website, the business was started in 2004 to provide heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing services for the residential and commercial market.
In other news, village council members,
• learned from Diller the Ohio Public Works Commission likely will decide in May whether to approve the village's application for a $500,000 grant and zero interest, $1.6 million loan that could be paid back in 20 or 30 years.
The financing would be used for phase two of the village's sewer separation project estimated at $2.58 million.
If everything goes as planned, the project could start as early as August, Diller said.
• learned the village is still seeking applications for seasonal park and pool workers. Not much interest has been shown in the pool manager position.
• thanked Cooper Family Foundation for donating recycled plastic benches for the dugouts at the village's four ball diamonds.
• learned the Archdiocese of Cincinnati likely will sign off on an annexation request soon. Although Mary Help of Christian Catholic Church receives utilities from the village, not all of the property is located within corporation limits. In order for the Fort Recovery Police Department to be authorized to respond to the church first instead of waiting for permission from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, all of the property needs to be annexed into the village.
• learned the 33rd annual Citizen of the the Year-Hall of Fame Awards Banquet will be March 10 at the Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School auditorium.
