CELINA - Phil Long of Celina has been appointed to the Mercer County Board of Elections to complete the unexpired four-year term of Mark Giesige.
The Mercer County Democrats' executive committee recently recommended Long to fill the vacancy left by Giesige, who resigned at the end of March to focus on his work with the Missionaries of Precious Blood. [More]

MINSTER - While a strong headwind along the finishing straight provided a little extra challenge to the athletes, the Minster boys and girls swept both titles at the 38th Annual Minster Memorial Invitational track meet Saturday. Both home teams dominated their competition, as the Wildcat boys more than doubled the points of all their competitors, while the girls handily outpaced second place Marion Local. [More]

ROSSBURG - Lincoln, Ind.'s Dave Darland passed Chase Stockon on lap 12 of Saturday night's 30-lap United States Auto Club (USAC) AMSOIL National Sprint Car event at Eldora Speedway and cruised the rest of the way to pick up his fifth career win at the high-banked, 1/2-mile oval.
