John Parker performed baptisms, weddings, taught Latin, English and driver's education

FORT RECOVERY - After 30 years of service, an area deacon who has baptized more than 500 children has retired.
John Parker of Fort Recovery became Mercer County's first permanent deacon after his ordination in 1985. He also had taught Latin and English at the Fort Recovery High School and was a driving instructor for 23 years. [More]
Division III Girls District Semifinals - Elida

ELIDA - Top-seeded Columbus Grove put a stop to Coldwater's tournament run with a 63-44 victory in the Division III district semifinal opener.
Then Fort Recovery couldn't stop Liberty-Benton's Jensen Hiegel in a 56-43 loss.
As a result, the Bulldogs and fourth-seeded Eagles earned a return trip to the Elida Fieldhouse to compete in Saturday's district final at 2 p.m. [More]
