Rebecca Fishbaugh
Rebecca "Becky" Sue (Handback) Fishbaugh, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior June 10, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer.
She was born July 3, 1944 in White Hall, Ill. to Wayne L. Bosecker and Dorthea F. (Handback) Bosecker.
As a child, her family moved frequently due to her father's career in industrial manufacturing, and she attended 10 different schools in the South and Midwest, graduating from Northwestern High School in Springfield, Oh. After graduation, she received her RN diploma from Community Hospital in Springfield and attended Bowling Green State University for further study.
After nursing school, she worked at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Oh., where she first met Dr. Larry Fishbaugh. They married September 23, 1967 and moved to Paulding, Ohio where she worked as a nurse and administrator in his new family practice until becoming a stay-at-home mother.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Larry of Paulding, as well as sons Brent (also of Paulding) and Jeffrey of Boulder, Co. She is also survived by nieces and nephew Kelly (O'Neill) Armfelt, Amy (Wing) Boeck, Emily (Wing) Rasmus, Sarah (Wing) Bradford and Johnny Wing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by older sisters Sandra (Bosecker) O'Neill and Marcia (Bosecker) Wing.
Becky was active in the community, especially in the First Presbyterian Church of Paulding, where she served in the past as both deacon and elder, as a Sunday School teacher and on numerous committees. She organized the annual Presbyterian Women's Retreat for more than 30 years. She served countless area church pulpits as a lay minister and spoke at many community organizations on a variety of spiritual issues. She was also a Master Gardener and loved working in her garden and with floral displays as much as possible.
Although Becky will be remembered as a loving, caring wife and mother, a good nurse and a friend of many, her most important legacy is as a prayerful woman, a devoted student of God's Word, and a proclaimer of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she loved dearly.
Visitation is 2 until 8 p.m. Friday June 15, 2018, at the Den Herder Funeral Home, 1000 W. Wayne St., Paulding, OH.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, Paulding, OH. She will be laid to rest in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding County.
According to Becky's wishes, in lieu of flowers and funeral gifts, donations can be made to the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry, 103 N. Main St., Paulding. Oh. (419) 399-5962 or to the Paulding First Presbyterian Church, 114 W. Caroline St., Paulding, Oh. (419) 399-2438.
