Elizabeth Lange
Elizabeth M. "Betty" Lange, age 97, of Coldwater, Ohio, passed away on the evening of March 24, 2020 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
She was born October 18, 1922 in Burkettsville to the late William & Josephine (Heyne) Reier. On October 20, 1945 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater Betty married the love of her life Ralph L. Lange, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1979.
Surviving are her two children, Nancy & Dennis Hoyng of Coldwater and Carl & Sue Lange of Celina; five grandchildren: Teresa Clevidence, Lori Rejent, Kevin Lange, Janice Mabry and Deborah Hammons; nineteen great-grandchildren; one of her sisters Mary (Reier) & Ray Wenning of Coldwater and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by infant son Richard Lange; two sisters Julianna Brackman and Marcella Westgerdes; and in-laws, Zeno Brackman, Wilbert Westgerdes, Alvina (Lange) & Herman Balster, Hilda (Lange) & Paul Mackenbach, Victor & Helen Lange, Anthony & Geraldine "Geri" Lange and Richard Lange.
Back in the day, Betty & Ralph were known to "tear up the dance floor" at the Carousel Ballroom with their ballroom dancing.
She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she had been an active parishioner and she was a member of the St. Ann's Rosary Sodality of the church.
She was a devoted wife, a dedicated homemaker and skilled at embroidering, making beautiful quilts, especially her states quilts. She enjoyed teaching her granddaughters the art of pie making, bowling with her team and playing countless and spirited games of cards with her family and groups of her friends.
Due to COVID-19 a private family Mass will be held on March 28, 2020 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater with live stream at http://www.coldwatercluster.org/node/29. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to State of the Heart Care or the Maria Stein Shrine.
