The Daily Standard

Three area school districts' 12th-graders have all passed the ninth-grade proficiency test, according to results of the October test released Friday by the Ohio Department of Education.
Fort Recovery, Marion and Minster local schools are listed with 100 percent of their seniors passing the test, with New Bremen Local Schools ranking close behind with only one senior remaining to pass the math portion of the test. Seniors must pass the ninth-grade proficiency test before graduation, according to state guidelines.
Seniors will have two more opportunities to pass the test, which measures proficiency in writing, reading, math, citizenship and science.
Celina City Schools' passing percentages for seniors on the recent test results are: writing, 99; reading, 98; math, 96; citizenship, 98; and science, 95.
The percentage of Coldwater Exempted Village School seniors passing the test are: writing, 98; reading, 99; math, 95; citizenship, 98; and science, 96.
For Parkway Local Schools, the senior percentages passing are: writing, 100; reading and math, 96; citizenship and science, 98.
All St. Henry Consolidated Local Schools seniors have passed writing and reading. Percentages on the other three areas are: math, 98; citizenship, 99; and science, 97.
St. Marys City Schools' seniors scoring is: writing, reading and math, 99; citizenship, 100; and science, 98.
Statewide, 94 percent of Ohio's seniors have passed all five parts of the tests, according to the October results.
This year's freshmen will be the last class required to pass the ninth-grade proficiency test to earn a high school diploma.
The test then will be replaced by the new Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). The class of 2007 will be the first who must pass the OGT and will take the test for the first time as 10th-graders in the spring of 2005.
