Matt Heckler, with the Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District, teaches a group of elementary school kids the aspects of a living habitat and the importance of clean drinking water. The fourth annual Conservation Camp put on by the Grand Lake St. Marys Watershed Project was open to all third, fourth and fifth grade students in Mercer and Auglaize counties. The group of 38 students participated in activities involving nature and ecosystem protection. They went out on a boat to release catfish and took home experiments, crafts and home water quality test kits.
