A 2-year-old St. Marys girl was killed and her 4-year-old sister remained in critical condition this morning following an accident on Ohio 65 in Lima on Saturday.
Isabelle Johanna Calhoun, the daughter of Luke and Victoria (Roberts), 123 S. Vine St., St. Marys, died Saturday at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medi-cal Center, Toledo, where she was taken by Life Flight helicopter from St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
The young girl was trapped in the car seat she was riding in and was removed by emergency workers at the scene, according to the report from the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Her sister, Olivia Roberts, was listed in critical condition this morning at the Toledo hospital.
The driver of the car, Luke Calhoun Sr., 31, and 1-year-old Luke Calhoun Jr., were treated then released at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
The report said Luke Calhoun Sr. was driving south on Ohio 65, south of Interstate 75, when he attempted to turn left into a business at approximately 4:45 p.m. Calhoun’s car was struck by a northbound SUV driven by Sonny Harner, 36, of Lima.
Harner also was treated then released from the Lima hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
Isabelle Calhoun is survived by another brother, Zachary Alexander Calhoun of Washington, D.C. According to her family, the toddler loved the movie “Shrek” and adored the relationship she had with her older sister Olivia.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. A complete obituary appears today on page 5A.
