St. Henry won its fifth straight contest in beating the Kalida
Wildcats 73-44 at St. Michael’s Gymnasium in Kalida on
Tuesday. The Wildcats drop to 4-3.
The Redskins (5-2) opened the game with a 21-6 first quarter
and doubled up the Wildcats 34-17 at the half.
Kurt Huelsman had a strong night for the Redskins, leading all
scorers with 20 points. Nate Stahl added 18.
St. Henry returns home on Saturday to face unbeaten Ansonia.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Indians down Patriots
Ciera Rammel scored 17 and Joscie Kaup added 11 as Fort Recovery
picked up its third win of the season with a 60-46 victory at
Jay County.
Fort Recovery (3-5) used a 22-12 second quarter to take a comfortable
36-20 lead at the half.
Fort Recovery hosts LCC on Saturday.
Cardinals lose opportunity to win
After leading by eight at the half and by three going into the
fourth quarter, New Bremen came out of its game with Botkins
with the loss as the Trojans posted a 16-3 fourth quarter to
win 52-42. The Cardinals drop to 2-6 on the season.
Chelsea Rogers scored 21 of her 24 points in the second half
as the Trojans outscored the Cardinals 34-16.
Jenny Homan and Liz Schnelle each had 14 to pace New Bremen,
which hosts Covington on Saturday.
Tigers get closer to .500
Jessica Foister scored 11 as Versailles had an easy time in
beating Bradford 44-17.
Versailles (4-5) jumped out 13-6 after the first quarter and
took a 23-10 lead at the half.
Rachel Schmitz added nine points.
Versailles host Fort Loramie on Saturday.
SWIMMING
WaterDogs keep winning
Celina posted a set of wins at a double-dual with Lima Senior
and Wapakoneta held at Wapak.
The WaterDog boys beat Lima, avenging the loss during the LASCA
Holiday Inviational 49-45 and beat Wapak 65-28.
The girls beat Lima 52-42 and Wapak 71-23.
Getting overall wins for Celina on Tuesday were Kylie Samples
in the 200-yard freestyle, Lindsey Kuhn in the 50 and 100 free,
Brandon Wenning in the 50 free, Amanda Mallory in the 100 butterfly,
Gabe Hierholzer in the 100 butterfly, Kelly Mallory in the 100
free and 100 backstroke and Larissa LaRue in the 100 breaststroke.
Celina hosts Bowling Green and Anthony Wayne on Saturday.
