Celina and Coldwater boys
tie Wapakoneta for championship; Van Wert girls win title outright
Team champions were crowned on Sunday as the West Ohio High
School Bowling Conference wrapped up regular season play on
Sunday at Community Lanes in Minster.
For the varsity boys division, several big wins led to tri-champions
being crowned. Wapakoneta defeated Coldwater 3,107 to 2,687
to hand Coldwater its second loss of the season and Celina defeated
St. Henry 2,808 to 2,692 to deny the Redskins a chance for a
share of the title and gave the Bulldogs a share. Coldwater,
Wapak and Celina end the regular season at 10-2.
Daniel Ruck of Wapakoneta had high-game honors for the boys
after rolling a 254.
The varsity girls division was a little more clear-cut as Van
Wert beat Wapakoneta to clinch the outright title by a score
of 2,629 to 2,431. Coldwater claimed third place by beating
Celina 2,225 to 2,149.
Tracy East paced a Van Wert pack for the top three games on
Sunday with a 225.
In the junior varsity division, Coldwater beat Wapak to force
a tie with the Redskins for first place in the division.
The varsity teams will compete Feb. 28 and 29 at the OHSIBC
Regional Tournament at Northland Lanes in Lima with a chance
to qualify for the state tournament held in Bowling Green on
March 13.
The WOHSBC will hold its season-ending tournament on March 7
back at Community Lanes in Minster.
