03-30-04 Celina starts off track season well

The Celina boys squad raced out to a win scoring a total of 89 while Spencer-ville and St. Henry followed with 48 and 38, respectively.
   The girls also picked up the tri-meet win, edging Spencerville 74-67 with St. Henry coming up third with a score of 33.
   The lone two-event winner in the boys meet came from St. Henry in Steve Dailey who pulled off first-place finishes in the shot put and discus. The Redskins’ Jason Cahill also won the 100 meter.
   Celina had seven different individuals record wins on the day in Ryan Bellman (3200 meter), Shawn Caruso (300 hurdles), Erik Chapin (high jump), Shaun Fent (1600 meter), Grant Riesen (800 meter), Nick Uhlenhake (long jump) and Michael Barger (200 meter). The Bulldogs also picked up titles in the 3200, 1600 and 800 meter relays.
   Brittany Wenning and Jenna Schmitmeyer won four titles each in the Green and White victory.
   Wenning won the 800 and 1600 individual titles along with two relay wins while Schmitmeyer won the 100 and 200 dashes along with the 300 hurdles and one relay.
   Also picking up individual titles were; Sarah Lange (high jump) and Laura Snyder (pole vault) to go along with two relay titles (3200 and 1600 meter).
   St. Henry’s Lauren Weitzel was the lone individual champion for the Red and White with a victory in the 400 meter dash while the Redskins’ 800 relay team also finished first.
