lmihm@dailystandard.com A New Knoxville teacher has been put on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted by the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.
Pat McGue, 913 Springfield Lane, Wapakoneta, was placed on leave for “immoral behavior, improper and unethical behavior and sexual battery” according to a letter from New Knoxville Local School superintendent Charles Rowen. The letter is being placed in McGue’s personnel file and the leave remains in effect pending the outcome of the investigation.
The letter said McGue must stay home during normal school hours and that he may not attend any school function or make phone calls to other school employees. He also is required to write lesson plans for classes, grade all papers, make out final examinations, complete all year-end reports and complete all grading.
McGue refused comment earlier this week in a call from The Daily Standard to his home. Rowen also refused further comment, and the sheriff’s office is not releasing any other information due to the investigation.
Auglaize County Prosecutor Edwin Pierce said that no information on the matter has yet been sent to his office for review.
McGue is a high school social studies teacher and the head coach of the boy’s basketball team. McGue began teaching at the New Knoxville school in 1999-2000, according to an earlier news story in the sports section of The Daily Standard.
A formal public records request was made to the superintendent to view McGue’s personnel file and received by Ted Rupert on April 8. No further information has yet been received from school officials, and the school is closed for the Easter holiday.
