A tanker truck rests on its side as hot mix tar covers part of a wheat field following an accident at 6:40 a.m. today on Karch Road, one-tenth mile south of 29. Hutch Shinn, 60, of Flint, Mich., was driving southbound when he pulled to the right for an oncoming truck, according to Mercer County Sheriff's Office reports. A tire slid off the pavement sucking the truck into the ditch. Approximately 100-150 gallons of tar used for paving leaked from the top of the tanker into the field owned by Steve Brandon of Celina. Shinn was not injured in the crash. The tanker was uprighted and taken to nearby Stoneco, where the remaining hot mix was unloaded. Celina Fire Department, Mercer County Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene along with PUCO and EPA officials. Purchase this as a quality photograph |
