By Sean Rice srice@dailystandard.com Starting July 1, Celina residents will have a new trash hauling company, with cheaper prices and expanded disposal options.
Black Maharg Inc. trash bags are already on the shelves of Celina's retail stores, but consumers can continue using left-over green bags from Waste Management for a few more weeks, Celina Safety-Service Director Mike Sovinski said. Those who have bought the new bags may use them right away, also. Prices for regular trash bags dropped to $1.15 each, down from the Waste Management price of $1.21 each. Also recycling bags are $0.80 each, down from $1.01, and yard waste bags are down from $1.40 each to $1.15 each. The size of the trash bags did not change. With the new contract with Maharg Inc., a rural Celina company, comes new pickup options for household waste. The company is working out the details of a special tag program, Sovinski said. City residents will be able to purchase tags to have larger trash items picked up, such as sinks, carpet, furniture, tires, refrigerators and other items.
