Practice makes perfect as Celina firefighters hone their extrication skills during training sessions this week at Graveyard II Auto Parts on Kuhn Road. Firefighters Bill Evans and Joe Osterholt use a different function of the tool to pry open a door. The department responds to an average of three or so accidents with entrapment during the course of a year so training sessions are needed to maintain skills, according to Schumm. Techniques change periodically with vehicle designs; what worked once may not apply in all situation. Graveyard owners supplied nine vehicles -- three per shift -- giving veterans as well as rookies an opportunity to practice. Purchase this as a quality photograph |
