Navion invasion at Lakefield Airport | ||||||||
| ||||||||
Richard and Cookie Bihler from Indianapolis make their landing approach at Lakefield Airport Friday afternoon. The couple are part of the Navioneers, a group of pilots who fly the Navion single engine airplane, built after WWII by North American Aviation. Three thousand of the planes were originally built and there are about 800 still in existence. More than a dozen of the planes and 30 to 40 Navioneers were expected at the airport on state Route 219 southwest of Montezuma, Friday evening for a barbecue, reported airport official Leonard Belcher. The Navioneers will cruise Grand Lake St. Marys today before taking off for home from the airport. Purchase this as a quality photograph |
