| Gas-powered model boats tear across the water at Eastview Park pond on Friday in Celina, reaching speeds near 70 mph. At left, boat operators and judges stand on a temporary platform constructed at the pond's edge. They are competing in the International Model Power Boat Association's Gas Nationals competition, which continues today and Sunday. More than 250 boats and 89 operators are competing.
