Stefanie Christopher, left, a junior at Marion Local High School and field commander for the marching band, won first place at the 2004 Columbus Grove Band Invitational last weekend as the best field commander of Class A schools. The Marion Local marching band also won a superior rating taking 95 of a possible 100 points. This qualifies them for state competition in late October. The band was also named the best of the 17 bands competing in the invitational. Above right, Stefanie confers with band director James Stephens. The band will compete in two invitationals Saturday: at Fairborn High School at 3 p.m. and at Bellbrook High School at 9:45 p.m. Purchase this as a quality photograph |
