12-03-04 Second-quarter run carries Flyers to win

  The Flyers went on a 14-2 run at the end of the second quarter to take the lead and the momentum away from the Redskins in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

  Down 24-20 before the run, the Flyers took a 34-26 lead after one half of play.
  The Redskins forced 26 Flyer turnovers and hit eight three-pointers to keep things close, but the Flyers kept their lead above 10 points for most of the second half.

Cavs cruise by Panthers
  The Coldwater girl's basketball team started strong and kept a strong advantage throughout as the Cavaliers defeated Parkway, 79-23.
  The Cavaliers outscored the Panthers 43-11 in the first half to take control of the game.
  Kendra Robbins led Coldwater with 19 points while Jessica Bettinger added 15 points as 11 different Cavaliers scored at least two points.
  Addie Hays led Parkway with eight points.

Minster downs New Bremen
  The Minster girl's basketball team had a huge second quarter and walked away with a 50-38 win over New Bremen.
  Minster outscored New Bremen 19-9 in the second quarter and held on from there on out.
  Karen Brackman led Minster with 12 points while Danae Spieles added 11 points.
  Kristen Ludeke led New Bremen with nine points.

Rangers drop heartbreaker
  The Delphos St. John's Blue Jays edged New Knoxville 42-41 on Thursday.
  The Rangers trailed by seven points entering the fourth quarter but the late rally fell just short when the buzzer sounded.
  Nicole Wright and Jessica Foster led New Knoxville (2-2) with 10 points apiece.

Celina downed by Wapak
  The Celina freshman basketball team dropped a 46-42 decision to Wapakoneta on Thursday night.
  Drew Golden led Wapak while Josh Houts scored a game-high 16 points, including four three-pointers, for Celina.
  Celina is back in action on Saturday at home against Bellefontaine at 4:30 p.m.
JUNIOR HIGH GIRL'S BASKETBALL
Celina seventh-grade wins
  The Celina seventh-graders won 23-22 over Lima South on Thursday.
  With just seconds remaining on the clock with the score tied, Celina's Katelyn Moorman hit a free throw to win it for the Bulldogs.
  Cenzie Yoder led Celina with six points while Candra Francis added five points.
