By Margie Wuebker mwuebker@dailystandard.com A reward is being established for information leading to the whereabouts and apprehension of a man wanted in connection with a Darke County traffic accident that killed a Fort Recovery man.
The May 22 crash claimed the life of 51-year-old David M. Neff who was en route home to Mercer County after spending the day painting at a relative's home. It occurred at the intersection of Foote and Darke-Shelby County Line Road, south of Osgood. Douglas F. Holler, 45, of West Milton, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Neff's vehicle causing it to flip in a nearby cornfield. Neff was pronounced dead at the scene and Holler was taken by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He checked himself out of the facility before Darke County Sheriff's deputies could charge him. Because alcohol has been cited as a factor in the accident, Holler faces a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide. Deputies have issued a nationwide warrant for Holler, who has a previous conviction for driving under the influence. Holler has brown hair and hazel eyes, stands 6 foot, 1 inch tall and weighs 220 pounds. He may be accompanied by Marcia Franz of Piqua and the couple are known to frequent Kiser Lake, Indian Lake, Grand Lake St. Marys and possibly Lake Loramie. The Neff family has been working with Darke County Crime Stoppers in hopes of bringing Holler to justice. The amount of the reward to be offered has not been set, as yet. "Please help us get Douglas Holler off the road before another family has to go through the holidays without a loved one," says Tamara S. Sackett, a sister of Neff. "If anyone can turn Holler in, our family would be so grateful and could begin to have some closure and peace." Anyone having information regarding Holler or his whereabouts should call the sheriff's office at (937) 548-2020 or Darke County Crime Stoppers at (937) 547-1661. |
