| Josh Schmehl, 14, makes his final move during a chess tournament game against Joel Varuska, 13, at the Community Public Library, St. Marys, on Thursday. Schmehl of St. Marys narrowly won in the first-ever young adult competition and was awarded a $20 gift certificate from Sam Goody. The contest was held Wednesday and Thursday and sponsored by Friends of the Library and Villa Nova Drive-Thru. Each participant also received pizza gift certificates.
