Resembling snow, the white fluffy stuff clinging to the edges of the grass along Grand Lake is the tufted seeds of the cottonwood tree. The seeds, which erupt from small capsules that dry and split, blow in the wind and are coveted by many kinds of wildlife including songbirds, chipmunks, squirrels, waterfowl and deer.
