12-30-05 Fort Recovery shows no rust in return to the court

  The Indians improve to 3-2 on the season.



  Fort Recovery jumped out to an 11-5 first-quarter advantage before the Tigers played nearly even with the Indians the rest of the way. Fort Recovery out-scored Anonia 42-40 the rest of the game.

  The Indians shot 55 percent from the field, dominating the inside with a rebound advantage of 26-17.

  Clint Tobe paced three double-figure efforts for the Tribe, scoring 14 points. Travis VanSkyock added a 13-point, seven-rebound night with Ryan Staugler finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds.

  Brad McEldowney led the Tigers with 12 points while Logan Beam added 10.  Fort Recovery wraps up the 2005 portion of the schedule tonight with a trip to Lincolnview.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cardinals down Golden Gophers

  Stephanie Winner had a double-double and three Cardinals scored double digits as New Bremen doubled up Ridgemont, 66-33, at Ridgemont. The Cardinals improve to 3-5 on the season.

  Winner scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Cardinals, and flirted with a triple double in dishing out seven assists on the night.

  Liz Schnelle paced all scorers with 16 points with Christine Schwartz adding 12 points. The Cardinals shot 50.8 percent from the field (31-of-61) and held the Golden Gophers to 22 percent (9-of-41) shooting.  

  New Bremen is at St. Henry on Thursday for the restart of the MAC season.

Lakers win

  The Wright State University Lake Campus men's basketball team defeated Miami University-Hamilton 87-68 in action on Wednesday at the Family Y.

  Paul Mackenbach of St. Marys led the Lakers with 16 points. Coldwater grads Jay Miller and brother Chad added 13 and 11 points each for the Lakers. New Bremen alum Brooks Topp also had 11 points.
