wkincaid@dailystandard.com A 2-year-old Celina girl was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle driven by her mother.
Khiley Lange was killed after being hit by a full-size Dodge pickup truck driven by Tara Lange, 20, at their home at 7561 Township Line Road in Liberty Township.
According to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey, Tara Lange was backing the truck down the driveway, did not see her daughter and hit the young girl. The truck's right front tire struck the girl as Lange was backing the vehicle.
A Celina squad responded to the address at 6:35 p.m. before transporting the girl to Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, where she was pronounced dead, according to Grey.
Grey also said the incident will not be considered a traffic fatality because it occurred on a private property. There have been no traffic fatalities in Mercer County yet this year. |
