05-15-06 Krick along with Everman and Stetler advance to districts

  Celina tennis players Brad Krick, Matt Stetler and Kyle Everman advanced to the Division I boys tennis district tournament this week after fine showings at the sectional tournament, moved indoors from Ohio Northern to Findlay due to the weather.

  Krick, the ace singles player for the Bulldogs this season and already in the districts in being in the final four, lost his semifinal match to Kyle Collette of Findlay 3-6 and 2-6 to move to the consolation final. There, Krick beat John Powers of Bowling Green 6-3 and 6-1 to head to the district in third place,

  Stetler and Everman, Celina's first doubles team during the regular season, beat Lima Senior's Teddy Stapleton and Stephen Kress 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 to make the championship finals. Top-seeded Scott Eblin and Tyler Lentz of Findlay beat Stetler and Everman, 6-2 and 6-2, to give the Celina pair the runner-up spot.  Krick, the fourth-seeded singles player at the sectional, beat Eli Razavi of Tiffin Columbian 6-1 and 6-2 before beating Steven Albert of Findlay 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday to advance to Saturday's semifinals.

  Everman and Stetler, the third seed in doubles, beat Wapakoneta's Derek Martin and Yoshihito Kogure 6-1 and 6-0 and Findlay's Drew Jack and Seth Reed 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) and 6-3 to make it to Saturday.

  In other singles matches, Neil Hoyng beat Jackson Waterman of Wapak in matching 6-0 sets before losing to top seed Kyle Collette of Findlay 1-6, 0-6 to end his season.

  Brent Householder lost to Bowling Green's John Powers, the third seed of the sectional, 1-6 and 4-6.

  The other Celina doubles team, Cory Darland and Alex Ball, lost to top-seeded Scott Elbin and Tyler Lentz of Findlay 0-6, 0-6 to end their season.  

  The district tournament starts Thursday at Sandusky High School. The finals will move to Port Clinton on Saturday with the top two singles winners and two doubles winners advanceing to the state tournament.

  State will be played at The Ohio State University's Stickney Tennis Center.
