| Firefighters from 17 fire departments from Shelby, Darke, Mercer and Auglaize counties fight a fire that destroyed two barns overnight in rural Fort Loramie. A Fort Loramie firefighter suffered minor injuries to his upper body and was taken by squad to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. Firefighters were on the scene from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. today. The wooden barns at 1364 state Route 705, which were filled with hay and straw, are owned by Chris DeLoye. A herd of heifers was removed from the buildings before fire crews arrived on the scene just two miles west of Fort Loramie, Fort Loramie Fire Chief Jerome Barhorst said. Smoke could be seen as far away as Troy, he added. Seven of the fire departments at the scene were from Mercer and Auglaize counties; Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers (MCERV) also provided traffic control after Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called away for an armed robbery in Anna, Barhorst said. | |
