Demolition work progresses Thursday in Celina on the QualiTech Metal Finishers building at 441 Grand Lake Road that was damaged by fire in early January. Operations Manager Mike VanBuskirk this morning said the demolition should be complete some time next week and construction of a new steel building should start this month. The fire occurred while a new building was being built. Production lines that had been housed in the fire-damaged building were moved to the new building, Buskirk said. The accidental fire occurred when a heating element was left on and ignited a plastic container, Celina Fire Chief Doug Kuhn said this morning.
