The Franklin Township Nature Park was established in 2003 as a way to preserve and create green space, wetlands and wildlife habitat. The Franklin Township Nature Trail along with the Franklin Township Nature Park extends for three miles along the southern edge of Grand Lake. There are three connecting sections to the Trail. The first section, going from west to east, has a parking lot adjacent to a grassy marsh. A lookout platform is just around the corner with over looking views of the wildlife ponds. The trail parallels State Route 219 for one half mile then meanders through tall grasses, and crosses a stream on a new covered bridge. This second section continues along the edge of a woods and a field, until the trail heads east along to 219. The third section begins with another parking lot and continues into a wooded path. This section follows a small stagnant stream until the trail end.
