A Rockford man remained in critical condition late Friday evening at a
Fort Wayne, Ind., hospital following a snowmobile accident Wednesday evening.
Cecil Ballard, 30, of Rockford, was driving southbound through a winter
wheat field in the vicinity of 4700 Ohio 707 when he lost control of the snowmobile around
9:48 p.m. Wednesday. The snowmobile rolled several times, ejecting Ballard from the
vehicle. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet.
Ballard initially was taken to Van Wert County Hospital and later
transferred by LifeFlight helicopter to Parkview Hospital where he remains in the
intensive care unit.
A Paulding woman has been upgraded from critical to fair condition at
Parkview Hospital following a three-vehicle accident Sunday evening on U.S. 127 in Dublin
Township.
Patricia J. Ward, 58, is no longer in the intensive care unit,
according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The accident occurred when Ward attempted to pass a northbound
semitrailer on U.S. 127 and noticed oncoming traffic. She apparently overcorrected and
struck two cars.
Ward also was taken to the Van Wert hospital and transferred by
helicopter to Parkview.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Office investigated both accidents. |
