05-12-03: State may take away Van Wert teacher's
license |
By MARGIE WUEBKER
The Daily Standard
The Ohio Board of Education is expected to approve the revocation of a
Celina man's permanent elementary teaching certificate Tuesday.
Marcus "Marc" P. Boznango, 36, 8368 Richey Road, Van Wert, is
awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery April 16 in
Mercer County Common Pleas Court. The charges stem from sexual contact with a student in
2001 and 2002 at his former residence on Touvelle Street.
Boznango, a former junior high special needs teacher and head track
coach in the Crestview School District, also pleaded guilty to sexual battery on March 26
in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court. That charge stems from a two-year relationship with
the same Crestview student, who is now 16.
His voluntary surrender of both the permanent elementary teaching
certificate and an eight-year teaching certificate is included in 14 personnel matters on
the board agenda.
Six other action items also involve permanent revocations for reasons
that include a physical altercation, theft in office, inappropriate sexual activity with a
student, an ethical violation, unlawful sexual conduct/importuning and corrupting another
with drugs/intimidation of a victim/possession of cocaine. They involve teachers, a school
psychologist and school administrators.
Boznango's sentencing here in Mercer County has been reassigned to
10:30 a.m. May 30. A sex offender classification hearing also will take place that day.
The maximum sentence for each third-degree felony is five years in prison and a $10,000
fine. |
