Hillarie Severt of St. Marys,
left, and Betty Jamison of Coldwater rehearse this week with the new
Wright State University-Lake Campus orchestra. The group has its first
public concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the campus auditorium.
Below, the orchestra, under the direction of Celina City Schools retired
music teacher Dan Jones, is made of 15-20 community members ranging
in age from junior high students to retired adults.
The orchestra formed at the beginning of the quarter and rehearses weekly
on Mondays. It is open to the public, and Jones hopes to soon be able
to offer college credit to members.
The Thursday night concert also will include a performance by the University
Chorus, under the direction of James Davis of Celina. The concert is
free and open to the public.
