Marion Local Schools held their
fifth-grade DARE graduation on Dec. 17.
Deputy Sue Miller introduced the special guests which included
DARE booster Ivan Knapp, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey and
Deputy Mark Heinl.
DARE officer April Grunden introduced the students reading their
essays, Kayla Schafer, Casey Heitkamp, Ryan Mescher, Jodi Otte
and Kelly Schlarman.
DARE officer Bud McFarlin announced the honor students, Ashley
Roeckner, Josh Berning, Janel Schulte, Kendra Kremer, Drew Bernard,
Vivian Seger, John Elking, Jeremy Brockraith and Renee Dirksen.
Sheriff Grey was the guest speaker and Marion School Principal
Karen Post gave the closing.
Each student was presented with a certificate and shirt donated
by Celina Aluminum Precision Technology (CAPT).
Parkway School also held their fifth grade DARE graduation in
December at the Intermediate School.
The fifth-grade students were presented with certificates and
DARE T-shirts purchased by CAPT.
The guest speaker was Sheriff Jeff Grey. Other special guests
included Capt. Bud McFarlin, Lt. Matt Grunden, of the Mercer
County Sheriff’s Office and DARE booster Ivan Knapp.
The DARE officer teaching the Parkway classes was Deputy Sue
Miller.
Students reading their essays at DARE graduation were Jessica
Roth, Morgan Cron, Lindsay Garwood and Cody French.
Honor students receiving special recognition were Nathan Poppe,
Cassie Richey, John Auer, Eleesha Long, Brittney Estle, Lindsay
Garwood, Kirstin Schreima and Kelly Adams.
The requirements to successfully complete the DARE program were
to write an essay, participate in classroom activities and complete
the DARE workbook.
