By From staff reports newsroom@dailystandard.com On Saturday, the Terriers took Game One 2-0 as Terrier Chad Wagler edged out Ross Liersmann in a pitchers' duel. Stark County won the game in the bottom of the sixth when Brad Miller lofted a two-run home run off Liersmann for the only runs of the game.
Grand Lake won Game Two by a 6-1 margin. Kurt Lauscher hit a two-run home run to pace the Mariners to the win. On Sunday, the Terriers once again won the opener beating the Mariners 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 4-2. Grand Lake scored in the sixth but Pat Gliha, in relief of Cameron Betrourne, pitched two solid innings of relief to get the save. Dan Remonowksy, coming in for starter T.J. Sheridan, suffered the loss. The final game of the series saw the Mariners win 4-3 in 10 innings. The game, the make-up from last weekend's rainout, had the Mariners as the home team. In the bottom of the 10th, Josh Dietz doubled to start the inning and was run for by Scott Billak. Scott Boley then grounded to pitcher Zeke Issacs, who threw the ball away, allowing Billak to score the winning run. Brad Loveys threw four innings of two-hit relief to get the win. Chris Fetter went the first six, striking out six and walking one. Bryant Witt had a solo home run and Lauscher went 2-for-5. The Mariners are back at Jim Hoess Field tonight for a 7:15 p.m. contest with Lima. |
