Martha Habegger

Former Celina resident Martha L. Habegger, 82, died April 2, 2004, at Swiss Village Retirement Community, Berne, Ind.
   She was born July 1, 1921, in Mercer County to William and Estella Morrow Kirkpatrick. On Jan. 20, 1943, she married Orval J. Habegger, who died in 1990.
   Surviving are a son, Kirk L., Berne, Ind., and a daughter, Teresa (Gary) Frysinger, Paulding; a sister, Mary Bowers, Springfield; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are four sisters, Fay Hays, Edith Huston, Agnes White and Ruth Kirkpatrick; and four brothers, Paul, Harold, Ernest and Arthur Kirkpatrick.
   A member of Bethel Brethren Church, Berne, she retired after 40 years as an elementary teacher at Hartford and Jefferson schools in Indiana, Rockford schools in Ohio and Adams Central Schools, Monroe, Ind. She was a former Sunday School teacher and church choir director.
   Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Joe Nass officiating. Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
   Calling is 2-7:30 p.m. Monday at the church fellowship hall and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the church.
   Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral home, Berne, Ind., has charge of arrangements.


Robert Karper

Robert Daniel "Dan" Karper, 45, 530 W. Logan St., Celina, died of natural causes on April 1, 2004, at his residence.
   He was born April 16, 1958, in Baltimore, Md., to David and Mildred Hardesty Karper. His father survives in Baltimore.
   Surviving are: three sons: Stephen, Lisbon, Brian and Nicholas, both of Celina; a daughter, Amanda, Celina; a former wife, Cindy (Rob) Van Santvoord, Celina; two brothers: Earl (Patricia), Florida, and John (Diane), Maryland; and a sister, Christine (Shawn) Smith, Arizona.
   He was the present account manager at Superior Auto, Celina. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
   Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at W. H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Deacon Thomas Huff officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.


Judith Pfeffenberger

Judith A. Pfeffenberger, 60, 2100 Celina Road, Lot 57, St. Marys, died at 11:04 p.m. April 1, 2004, in the emergency room at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, after suffering an apparent heart attack.
   She was born June 13, 1943, in St. Marys, to Raymond and Helen Blakely Adams. Her mother survives at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta. She married Gary Schmieder, who is deceased. On Nov. 11, 1978, she married Philip Pfeffenberger, who died May 11, 2002.
   Surviving is a son, Brian Schmieder, New Bremen; and two grandchildren.
   A graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, she was a long-time employee of Joint Township hospital where she was a switchboard operator. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, and Eagles Auxiliary 767.
   Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Arheit officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Hope Zink

Hope G. Zink, 78, 1113 Robin Road, St. Marys, died at 9:15 a.m. April 2, 2004, at St. Marys Living Center.
   She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Lima to William A. and Zelma E. Coffman Feth. On May 19, 1951, she married William L. Zink, who died Nov. 7, 1991.
   Surviving are two sons, William D., and Bob, both of St. Marys; a daughter Marla (Todd) Keeran, Portage; and seven grandchildren.
   Deceased are a daughter, Karen Sue, and a brother, William Feth.
   A 1943 graduate of Celina High School, she was a homemaker, volunteer at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a cook at the American Legion in Celina. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, St. Marys, an auxiliary member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge, all in Celina.
   Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Keith Kivlin officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Memorials may be directed to the church building fund.
