Adella Eifert

Former Cassella resident Adella K. Eifert, 97, Gables of Singing Woods Retirement Community, Dayton, died at 11:35 p.m. May 14, 2004, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
   She was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Fort Loramie, to Bernard and Anna Hilgefort Bruns. On June 5, 1934, she married Oscar V. Eifert who died March 4, 2003.
   Surviving are a son, Donald (Joan) of Dayton; two daughters, Patricia (Tony) Mastrangelo, Tucson, Ariz., and Mary Jane (Bill) Brinck, Centerville; two brothers, Paul and Bernard Bruns, both of Yorkshire; a sister, Alma Kleinhenz, Columbus; a sister-in-law, Josephine Bruns, Yorkshire; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
   Three brothers are deceased.
   She had worked at the former Dippold Store in Cassella. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Sodality of the church and Catholic Knights of America Branch 943, all of Cassella, and a charter member of the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Maria Stein.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Harry Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
   Contributions can be made to the Oscar Eifert Scholarship Fund.


Donald Krauss

Donald E. Krauss, 82, 875 Hillcrest Drive, St. Marys, died at 2:22 p.m. May 16, 2004, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
   Arrangements are pending at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Frederick Rentz

Frederick X. Rentz, 90, 8139 Ohio 274, Chickasaw, died at 1:50 a.m. May 15, 2004, at Otterbein Nursing Home in St. Marys.
   He was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Chickasaw, to August and Anna Rose Rentz.
   Surviving is a brother, Maurice, of Chickasaw.
   Deceased are six brothers, Alfred, Roman, Norbert, Bernard, Richard and Marcellus; and three sisters, Florentine Brinkman, Mary Ann Spoltman and Lillian Rentz.
   He was a 1932 graduate of Minster High School and had served as a board member for Mercer Landmark. He was a member of Precious Blood Church, Chickasaw, and the churchÍs MenÍs Holy Name Society. He also had coached girlÍs softball in Chickasaw.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. John Bensman officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.


Edward Whetstone

Edward "Eddie" L. Whetstone, 64, of Spencerville, died at 10 p.m. May 15 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, following a brief illness.
   He was born Dec. 1, 1939, in rural Van Wert County, to Clarence L. and G. Marcille Zimmerman Whetstone, who are deceased.
   Survivors are a brother, Gene (Janet) Whetstone, Spencerville, and three sisters, Vonda (Max) McMichael, Spencerville, Danelda (Paul) Roberts, Wapakoneta, and Neita (Gene) Border, Spencerville.
   He was a 1957 graduate of Spencerville High School and attended Northwestern Business College for two years. He worked 20 years for Babcock & Wilcox Boiler Construction Co. He also had worked at Findlay Industries in Ohio City and had been a bus driver for Spencerville schools. He last worked at Progressive Stamping in Ottoville.
   Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, the Rev. Ken Whetstone officiating. Burial is at Kossuth Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.


Esther Wright

Esther E. Wright, 87, 129 N. West St., St. Marys, died at 9:14 p.m. May 16, 2004, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   Arrangements are pending at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Joyce Yaney

Funeral services for Jayce Yaney were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Swamp College Cemetery west of Celina. The Revs. Verl Ballmer and Tom Christen officiated.
   Pallbearers were Troy, Ross and Derk Richey, Dan, Joe and John Wilson, and Travis and Daryl Hut.
   Arrangements were handled by W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home in Celina.
