Elsie Mickey

Elsie Elaine Mickey, 82, 619 Southway Drive, St. Marys, died at 12:30 a.m. June 10, 2004, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
   She was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Maymont, Saskatchawan, Canada, to William and Coral Lehmann Osbourne. In 1965, she married Robert Mickey, who died June 8, 1989.
   Surviving are three sons, Bill Hovey, British Columbia, Canada, Robert (Peri) Mickey, Brunswick, Ga., and John Mickey, St. Marys; a daughter, Sherry (Gilles) Horne, Niagra Falls, Canada; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   She was involved in the operation of Agape Ministries Food and Clothing Pantry in St. Marys and served as a postal clerk with the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. David Heinl officiating.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.


Francis Raszkowski

Former Fort Recovery resident Francis A. "Tony" Raszkowski, 61, 435 E. Cleveland St., Berne, Ind., died at 6:05 a.m. June 9, 2004, at Pinehurst Care Center, Centerville, Ind. Death was due to natural causes.
   He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Muncie, Ind., to Bernard and June Huffman Raszkowski.
   Survivors include several aunts and nephews.
   Deceased are a brother, Leo, and two sisters, Margie Whitacre and Mary Lizotte
   Graveside services will be held at a later date.
   Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, has charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.

   Cranberry Prairie native Harley J. "Red" Twaits, 78, 121 N. Main St., Palestine, died at 4:06 a.m. June 11, 2004, in the emergency room at Wayne Hospital, Greenville.
   He was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Cranberry Prairie, to Harley and Nora Dillhoff Twaits. On June 7, 1947, he married Ruth Mestemaker who survives.
   Also surviving are a son, Mark (Kay) of Greenville; six daughters, Judy (Charles) Kuhens, Bastrop, La., Janet (DeWayne) Pepper and Jane (Scott) Clum, all of Greenville, Joyce (Dan) Laux, Paonia, Colo., Julia (Jim) Bilbee, Indianapolis, Ind., and Jean (Wayne) Kirtley, New Weston; two sisters, Rita Hageman, Dayton, and Alma (Ted) Rynda, Florida; 16 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Walter and Donald; a sister, Mary Louise Puthoff; and a granddaughter.
   He owned and operated Red & Ruth's Tavern in Palestine before retiring in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts, Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Greenville.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Glen Perin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
   Calling is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. A prayer service will be held there at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
   Contributions can be made to Tri-Village Rescue or the Darke County Cancer Association.
