Margaret Condon Former Versailles resident Margaret B. "Rita" Condon, 86, of Sebring, Fla., died at 8:15 p.m. July 6, 2004, at Versailles Health Care Center. She was born June 12, 1918, in Darke County, to LeRoy and Ella Frantz Baltes. Her husband, Russell E. Condon, died April 6, 1979. Surviving are four sons, James (Jenny) and Fredrick (Roberta), all of Versailles, Richard (Angela) of Russia, and Robert (Rebecca) of New Knoxville; a daughter, Marcie (Charles) Meiring, St. Marys; two brothers, Earl Baltes, Versailles, and James Baltes, Frenchtown; two sisters, Bertha Siegrist, Celina, and Susan Barga, Frenchtown; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Deceased are a daughter, Maria; a brother, Ralph Baltes; a sister, Zelma Ernst Fenner; and three great-grandsons. A homemaker, she worked as a hostess at Crystal Ballroom in Frenchtown during the 1950s and operated the following Versailles-area businesses: Annie Oakley Trailer Park & Restaurant in 1973, Golden Que Billiards in 1968, C&J Cafe in 1962, Eldora Speedway Concessions in 1954 and Condon Tavern in 1946. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, the Rev. Carl A. Subler officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.
