Former Minster resident Linda J. Knost, 54, 6306 Pineview Road, Dallas, Texas, died at 11:30 p.m. July 25, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas following an extended illness. She was born March 27, 1950, in Celina, to Henry and Dorothy Bergman Beckman. Her mother survives in Minster. On Aug. 28, 1971, she married former New Bremen resident Roger Knost who survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Tony (Sue) Beckman, Minster, Jim (Vicki) Beckman, St. Marys, and Mike (Diana) Beckman, Atlanta, Ga. A sister, Karen Beckman, died in infancy. She was a registered nurse and sales representative for Cardinal Health Medical Supply Co. A 1968 graduate of Minster High School and a graduate of St. Rita's Hospital School of Nursing in Lima, she was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Calling is 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. Wilfred "Junior" Marchal, 70, state Route 219, Celina, died at 4:16 p.m. July 26, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following an extended illness. He was born June 1, 1934, in Russia, to Wilfred and Mary Schmidt Marchal. On Oct. 12, 1957, he married Jean Wendel who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve of Celina; four daughters, Sue (Elmer) Stachler, Celina, Sandy (Dan) Niekamp, St. Sebastian, Sharon (Mark) Klosterman and Stacie (Shane) Flowers, all of Coldwater; a brother, Herman (Betty) of Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Hilda Street, St. Marys, and Vesta Perin, Bradford; and 12 grandchildren. Three brothers, Ralph, Francis and Norbert, are deceased. He retired from the former New Idea plant in Coldwater and then worked as maintenance man at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Montezuma. He was a member of the church and its Holy Name Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3025 and Knights of Columbus Council 1991, both of Coldwater. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
