George Armstong

Calling hours for George A. "Pete" Armstrong, 61, 608 E. Spring St., St. Marys, will be 5-8 p.m. today at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Armstrong died at 11:45 a.m. July 28, 2004, at St. Marys Living Center. Death was due to natural causes.
   Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
   Contributions can be made to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 76.


Arthur Burd

Arthur H. "Artie" Burd, 75, 1410 Nagel St., St. Marys, died at 2:50 p.m. July 28, 2004, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
   He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Detroit, to Arthur and Agnes Ridenour Burd. On Dec. 19, 1953, he married Judith Botkin who died Oct. 15, 2003.
   Surviving are a son, John, and a daughter, Holly (Jeff) Platt, both of St. Marys; two brothers, Bill of Celina and Rich of St. Marys; two sisters, Luella Muter, Celina, and Evelyn Horn, Poland; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   A brother, Harry, is deceased.
   He was a U.S. Navy veteran, retiring as a master chief petty officer after 23 years of service. He served as an electronics instructor at Wright State University Lake Campus for many years and also worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, American Legion Post 323 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 767, all of St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Dale Leinbach officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Rita Holthaus

Rita A. Holthaus, 81, Holthaus Road, Fort Loramie, died at 7:42 a.m. July 29, 2004, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   She was born July 21, 1923, in Fort Loramie, to Joseph A. and Anna Schulze Winner. On June 11, 1947, she married Gregor B. Holthaus who is deceased.
   Surviving are five sons, Ronald (Velma) of Yorkshire, Gerald (Judy), Kenneth (Bonita) and Richard, all of Minster, and Marvin of Fort Loramie; a daughter, Martha (John) Speer, Covington; two sisters, Mildred Prenger, Coldwater, and Joan (Ralph) Holdheide, Fort Loramie; a sister-in-law, Rita Winner, Versailles; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Wilfred and Urban Winner, and a brother-in-law, Leonard Prenger.
   She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality and the Apostleship of Prayer, all of Fort Loramie, and Naim of the North Catholic Widows & Widowers Group.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
   Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
