Irene Eckstein Former St. Henry resident Irene B. Eckstein, 86, of Dayton, died Aug. 7, 2004, at the Maria Joseph Center in Dayton. She was born Sept. 16, 1917, in St. Henry, to Ferdinand and Elizabeth Borger. Her husband of 51 years, Norman J. Eckstein, is deceased. Surviving are five sons, J. Norman (Roberta) and Craig M. (Sandra), all of Dayton, Paul F. (Brenda) and Steven (Leslie), all of Tampa, Fla., and Charles J. (Sandra) of Snellville, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A sister, Wilma Krebs, is deceased. She formerly worked as an administrative assistant at Stanley Manufacturing in Dayton. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the University of Dayton and Chaminade High School Parents Clubs, all of Dayton. She also served as a Cub Scout den mother and was a 1935 graduate of St. Henry High School. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Dayton, the Rev. William O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. Baker Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, Dayton, has charge of arrangements. Contributions can be made to Maria Joseph Center or Hospice of Dayton.
