Velva Goubeau Velva E. Goubeau, 90, 323 E. Market St., Mendon, died at 6:10 a.m. Sept. 20, 2004, at her home. She was born July 6, 1914, in Mercer County, to Henry William and Rachel Ethel Runkel Deitsch. On March 31,1934, she married Jesse C. Goubeau who died May 31, 1993. Surviving are a son, William H. (Patricia) of St. Marys; a daughter, Loveda Gentner, Xenia; four brothers, Gene (Clair) Deitsch, West Bend, Wis., Ralph (Willa) Deitsch, Versailles, Carl (Delores) Deitsch, Celina, and John (Rosemary) of Rockford; a sister-in-law, Nora Deitsch, Celina; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Andrew, Gerald and Lloyd Deitsch; and six sisters, Ida Ruth Young, Mary Colson, Mabel Denney, Iva Mong, Dorothy Larie and Mildred Mentzer. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys after 23 years of service. She was a member of Ross Church of the Brethren in Union Township. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Glenn Masser officiatiang. Burial will follow at Spencerville Cemetery. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
