James Mullen James P. Mullin, 81, formerly of 135 Cherry St., St. Marys, died at 5:20 a.m. Sept. 29, 2004, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community. He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Lima, to John and Nellie Shepler Mullen. On Oct. 11, 1943, he married Iona Janet Raymond who died July 20, 1996. Surviving are a nephew, Larry (Kang Sun) Borden, Jacksonville, Ark.; and three nieces, JoAnn (Roger) Freeman, New Bremen, Janet (Gary) Cooper, Pedro, and Kathy (Bill) Metz, St. Marys. Deceased are a sister, Mary Borden, and a half brother, Orvale Ebersole. He retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service and also worked at Midwest Electric Cooperative and the former Clark Oil station in St. Marys. He was a member of the Shawnee Long Rifles and attended the First Church of God in St. Marys. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Michael Slusser
Michael Slusser, 61, 7556 Harris Road, Celina, died at 6:15 a.m. Sept. 30, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Lima, to Fred and Connie Courtney Slusser. On April 6, 1963, he married Lynn Frank who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Tony (Lisa) of Richmond, Ind., Kelly (Lisa) of Celina, and Josh, at home; a daughter, Jodi (Dave) Spaulding, St. Marys; a brother, three sisters and eight grandchildren. A 1961 graduate of Wapakoneta High School, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Richard Riedel officiated. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
