Ruth Buchanan

Ruth Pauline Buchanan, 89, of St. Marys, formerly of Rockford, died at 10:15 p.m. Oct. 29, 2004, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   She was born July 17, 1915, in Rockford, to John and Frances Witter Alspaugh.
   Surviving are a son, Paul of Rockford; two daughters, Patsy Kelsey, Florida, and Sharon Ellington, Vancouver, British Columbia; two sisters, Marjorie Alspaugh and Mildren Botkin, both of St. Marys; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   A grandson is deceased.
   She was a homemaker and a former employee of Tu-Way and Sharp Canning Factory, both of Rockford. She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church (formerly Grace United Methodist Church), where she sang in the choir. She had been pianist at the former United Brethren Church between Rockford and Willshire.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


Wilma Gels

Wilma Rose Gels, 85, of Celina, formerly of St. Henry, died Oct. 30, 2004, at The Gardens at Celina.
   She was born March 28, 1919, in St. Henry, to Anthony and Regina Stammen Bernard. On June 14, 1943, she married Arthur Gels who died July 4, 1997.
   Surviving are two sons, Jack (Barb) of Englewood and Jim (Carol) of Charlevoix, Mich.; two daughters, Karen (Tom) Watts, Celina, and Kathy (Richard Bowers) Gels, Columbus; a brother, Elmer (Mary) Bernard, St. Henry; seven sisters, Ella Mae Gaier, Fort Loramie, Ruth Seitz, Dayton, Florence Ferris, Columbus, Peg (Bill) Wolf, Fort Recovery, Ann (Louis) Brunswick, Coldwater, Joan (Greg) Hausfeld, St. Marys, and Jane (Walt) Uhlenhake, Beavercreek; a brother-in-law, Norbert (Dolores) Gels, St. Henry; a sister-in-law, Cleo Gels, St. Henry; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Urban and James Bernard, and an infant sister, Mary Bernard.
   A 1937 graduate of St. Henry High School and a homemaker, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar-Rosary Society, both of Celina.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Richard R. Riedel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:15-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
   Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.


Alvina Heitkamp

Alvina H. Heitkamp, 92, formerly of Minster, died at 10:28 a.m. Oct. 30, 2004, at Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born April 2, 1912, in Minster, to Anton and Katherine Thobe Kemper. On May 11, 1932, she married Urban J. Heitkamp who died Nov. 19, 1990.
   Surviving are four sons, Don (Shirley) and Ken (Ronnie), all of Minster, Larry (Judy) of St. Henry, and Gary (Jane) of Celina; a daughter, Mary Jane (Duane) Bachman, Piqua; a daughter-in-law, Barb Heitkamp, Minster; 26 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son, Terry; six brothers, Raymond, Joseph, Louis, Edward, John and William; five sisters, Bernadine Jacobs, Loretta Schwieterman, Anna Schwieterman and twins Rose and Marie Kemper; and a grandchild.
   She was a homemaker and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster.
   Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Louis Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.


Rev. Joseph Lima

The Rev. Joseph Lima, C.PP.S., 85, a resident of St. Charles Center in Carthagena, died Oct. 31, 2004, at the center's infirmary.
   Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Charles, with calling to be held Thursday at the same location.
   Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, has charge of arrangements.


Mamie Searight

Mamie Josephine Searight, 91, of Celina, died at 11:15 p.m. Oct. 29, 2004, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Mercer County, to Grover and Icy Scioto Fast Nuding. On Sept. 14, 1946, she married Jesse Lee Searight who died Oct. 20, 2003.
   Surviving are a son, Ron (Lisa) of Rockford; a daughter, Jean Ireland, Celina; a brother, John (Lucille) Nuding, Celina; a sister, Bernadine Krugh, Liberty Center; and two grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Don and Charles Nuding; a sister, Helen Harner; and a grandson.
   She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Tabor Church of God and the Women's Association, both of Celina.
   Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Jim Keiser officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to the church, State of the Heart Home Health & Hospice or the National Alzheimer's Association.

Mary Hundley Stelzer, 82, of Celina, died Oct. 31, 2004, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
   Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements.
