Cyril Bernard Cyril A. Bernard, 83, 8619 state Route 119, Maria Stein, died at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 28, 2004, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, following a two-day illness. He was born July 14, 1921, in Maria Stein, to Joseph and Agnes Heckman Bernard. On July 6, 1946, he married Alvina Leugers who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tom (Loraine) and Don, all of Maria Stein; a daughter, Ann (Ron) Puthoff, Chickasaw; a sister, Sophia (Bill) Ridenour, Dayton; and seven grandchildren. A son, Richard, and five sisters are deceased. He was the semi-retired owner of Bernard Masonary in Maria Stein and a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Knights of St. John and American Legion Post 571, all of Maria Stein, and the Chickasaw Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the church cemetery. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. Marvyn "Chuck" Ellis, 68, 751 Deford St., Celina, died at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Celina, to John and Mary Hole Ellis. On May 1, 1955, he married Betty Thomas who survives. Also surviving are a son, Doug (LouAnna) of Celina; two daughters, Rebecca (Scott) Miller, Cridersville, and Vicki (Dennis) Goff, Celina; two foster sons, Bob (Jenni) Brewer, Rockford, and Josh Brewer, Dayton; a brother, the Rev. Robert (Marge) of Celina; two sisters, Hope Fetters, Celina, and Linda (Lou) Ross, Ohio City; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Stephen; a daughter, Theresa; two brothers, John and Bevin; a sister, Deloris; and a grandson. He retired from Stoneco in Celina after 36 years and was a social member of the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Services are 8 p.m. Thursday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with his brother officiating. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. |
