Alfred Emans Alfred V. "Pooch" Emans, 82, 218 S. Main St., Mendon, died at 4 a.m. Dec. 31, 2004, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Mercer County, to Harry S. and Luella Selanders Emans. On Dec. 24, 1946, he married Marilyn J. Coffman who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Rex (Janet) and Rick (Barb), all of Mendon; a daughter, Rita Puthoff, Celina; a brother, Stanley (Janet L.) of Mendon; two sisters, Lillian Cleo Moorman, Celina, and Patricia Rice, Geneva, Ind.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son-in-law, Daniel C. Puthoff; a brother, Raymond; and two sisters, Helen Fern Schlueter and Rhonda Eitzman. A former owner and operator of Emans Construction in Mendon, he also co-owned Emans Pure Oil Union 76 Station in Mendon with his son Scott. He had worked at Crampton's Cannery and B & F Garage, both of Mendon, and Lima Tank Depot. A former chief of the Mendon Fire Department, he was a member of Mendon First Church of God, Spencerville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Coldwater Disabled American Veterans Post and Celina American Legion Post 210. He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, the Rev. Glenn Masser officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the Mendon Fire Department. Linus Klosterman
Linus V. Klosterman, 90, formerly of 2510 Oregon Road, Celina, died at 12:40 a.m. Jan. 2, 2005, at Celina Manor Nursing Home. He was born June 15, 1914, in Montezuma, to Rudolph and Frances Dahlinghaus Klosterman. On June 28, 1947, he married Kathryn S. Brehm who died Jan. 24, 1993. Several nieces and nephews survive. Deceased are two brothers, Norbert and Urban, and a sister, Elanora Sutters. He had worked 30 years at New Idea in Coldwater and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Liberty Township, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3720 and American Legion Post 470, both of Coldwater. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Raymond McKinney, 93, 430 Huffman St., St. Marys, died at 12:16 a.m. Jan. 1, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Spencerville, to Thomas and Dora Detrick McKinney. On Dec. 29, 1940, he married Gladys Coil who died April 2, 1996. Surviving are a son, Victor (Leslie) of St. Marys; a daughter, Janet (James) White, St. Marys; a sister, Marguerite Apgar, St. Marys; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Joan, and two brothers, Paul and Cecil. He retired from Standard Oil Refinery in Lima where he had worked 23 years as a stationary steam engineer. He was a member of Ross Church of the Brethren near Mendon, the refinery's Quarter Century Club and the Camp Rosalie Ramblers, a graduate of Spencerville High School and an Ohio Army National Guard veteran. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Glenn Masser officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys. Kylee Jean Rhoads, infant daughter of Jazmin Ackley and Shawn
Rhoads, 129 Cedarhurst Drive, St. Marys, died suddenly at 9:01
p.m. Jan. 1, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital,
St. Marys. An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of
death.
She was born Nov. 21, 2004, in St. Marys.
Surviving with the parents are a sister, Kelsey
Jean Coffey, St. Marys; grandparents, Dave Ackley and Deb (Mark)
Sholler, all of St. Marys, and Bill and Sandy Gilbert, Celina;
and the great-grandmother, Jean Ackley, St. Marys.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home,
St. Marys, the Rev. Judy Ball officiating. Burial will follow
at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
