Ivo Drees

Ivo B. Drees, 73, 629 W. Walnut St., Coldwater, died at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   He was born May 3, 1931, in Coldwater, to Bernard and Elizabeth Streacker Drees. On May 12, 1954, he married Virginia Giere who died March 31, 1977.
   Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey (Linda) of Celina and Christopher of Coldwater; two daughters, Jacqueline (Paul) Thase, Casstown, and Julia (Dave) Barker, Troy; a brother, Art (Rosalie) of Minster; a sister, Vera (Rich) Wuebker, Versailles; and two grandchildren.
   Deceased are three brothers, Harold, Luke and Ralph, and four sisters, Marcella Wappelhorst, Leona Schoen, Henrietta Muhlenkamp and Olivia Wappelhorst.
   He retired from Huffy's in Celina, where he had worked as a job setter and on the receiving dock and he operated the former Flora-Haven landscaping service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, all of Coldwater, the Knights of Columbus, Celina, and the USS Orleck Association. A former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, he formerly studied horticulture at Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Coldwater church, the Rev. Ron Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Celina.
   Calling is 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
   Contributions can be made to the USS Orleck Association or the American Cancer Society.


Betty Fleck

Betty Fleck, 84, formerly of 9094 state Route 197, Celina, died at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 2005, at her daughter's home in West Alexandria.
   She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Macedon, to William and Ida May Denney Runkel. On April 15, 1941, she married Ralph R. Fleck who died May 22, 2003.
   Surviving are a son, Ralph Jr. (Susan) of Carrollton, Ga.; four daughters, Mary Sanders, Celina, Sally (Wayne) Fickert, Rockford, Judith Fleck McIntosh, Fairfield, and Linda (Jerry) Williams, West Alexandria; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son-in-law, Jay Sanders; two sisters, Dorothy Muter and Alberta Runkel; and a great-grandchild.
   She was a homemaker and a Celina High School graduate.
   Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Jack Young officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the Heart Association.


Allen Flowers

Allen E. Flowers, 56, 1402 state Route 29, Celina, died Jan. 9, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Death was due to natural causes.
   Arrangements are pending at Lehman Funeral Home, Celina.


Cletus Frankenberg

Cletus William Frankenberg, 75, 11873 Glynwood-New Knoxville Road, New Knoxville, died Jan. 7, 2005, at his residence.
   He was born Oct. 21, 1929, in Sidney, to Joseph B. and Rose F. Ebert Frankenberg. On May 2, 1953, he married Mary Catherine Kohler who also died Jan. 7, 2005.
   Surviving are two sons, Joseph (Georgia) of Wooster and Steve (Kathy) of New Bremen; a daughter, Regina (Bruce) Maddy, Noblesville, Ind.; two brothers, Fred (Patricia) of Kissimmee, Fla., and Leroy (Delores) of Sidney; three sisters, Rita Coffman, Sidney, Cleola (Fritz) Ernst and Evelyn (Cyril) Seger, all of Fort Loramie; and eight grandchildren.
   Deceased are a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond (Helen), a brother-in-law, Othel Coffman; and a grandson.
   He was a farmer and a former employee of Monarch Machine Co. in Sidney, a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and a U.S. Army veteran. He had attended Holy Angels High School in St. Marys.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Anthony C. Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, in Sidney.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Contributions can be made to the New Knoxville Schools Defibrillator Fund, Auglaize County Humane Society or the Rev. James O. Byrne Scholarship Fund for Seminarians.


Mary Frankenberg

Mary Catherine Frankenberg, 71, 11873 Glynwood-New Knoxville Road, New Knoxville, died Jan. 7, 2005, at her residence.
   She was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Botkins, to Anthony X. and Catherine A. Gerstner Kohler. On May 2, 1953, she married Cletus W. Frankenberg who also died Jan. 7, 2005.
   Surviving are two sons, Joseph (Georgia) of Wooster and Steve (Kathy) of New Bremen; a daughter, Regina (Bruce) Maddy, Noblesville, Ind.; a brother, Fred Kohler, Botkins; a sister, Eleanor Kennedy, Botkins; two sisters-in-law, Becky and Pauline Kohler, also of Botkins; and eight grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Leon and Edward Kohler; a brother-in-law, Don Kennedy; and a grandson.
   A homemaker and farm manager, she had worked at Provico in Botkins and Copeland Corp. in Sidney. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys.

Wanda Gilliland

Wanda R. Gilliland, 79, Celina, died Jan. 7, 2005, at her residence.
   She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Van Wert County, to Charles Waldo and Eva Leota Michael Stuckey. On Jan. 2, 1946, she married John Richard Gilliland who died Dec. 25, 1998.
   Surviving are a son, John Charles of Bryan; two daughters, Susan Diane of Celina and Jeanne Anne of Columbus; and a sister, Wilma (Cahrol) Schaffner, Grover Hill.
   Two sisters, Wilda Stuckey and Mrs. Roger Bair, are deceased.
   She had worked 22 years as a registered medical technologist at the former Gibbons Hospital in Celina. She also worked a total of 16 years at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, and Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. She was a former member of state, national and international societies of medical technology.
   The body will be cremated and no public service or visitation is planned.
   Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, has charge of arrangements.
   Contributions can be made to Best Friends Animal Shelter of Knab, Utah, or the Equestrian Therapy Program in Cridersville.


Ralph Huelsman

Ralph L. Huelsman, 82, 331 Kremer-Hoying Road, St. Henry, died at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 7, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
   He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Celina, the son of Louis and Anna Schulte Huelsman. On June 26, 1943, he married Marie C. Meyer, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons Jerry (Cindy) of St. Henry and Tom (Roberta) of LaVernia, Texas; four daughters, Mary Jane (Mark) D'Eramo, Tyler, Texas, Karen (James) Jilek, Gahanna, Barbara (Michael) Gerard, Wooster, and Marcia Berube, Newark; one brother, Myron (Martha) of St. Henry; three sisters, Mary Ann (Robert) Oppenheim, Centerville, Myrna (Thomas) Livingston, Union City, Ind., and Benita O' Meara, Dana Point, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Huelsman, Colmar, Pa., and Marilyn Huelsman, St. Henry; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Louis; two sisters, Irma Fosse and Rita Huelsman; and a son-in-law, Richard Berube.
   He retired from AVCO New Idea, in Coldwater, as a computer systems analyst. He was a World War II veteran, earning the rank of sergeant in the Army Air Corps. A member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, he was also a lay minister for the church. Also, he was a member, past chaplain and past adjutant of the St. Henry American Legion.
   Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery, where American Legion members will conduct complete military honors.
   Calling is from 2-8 p.m. today and from 9-10 Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.


Virgil Stammen

Virgil J. Stammen, 76, 3361 North Star-Fort Loramie Road, New Weston, died at 12:18 a.m. Jan. 9, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
   He was born Feb. 3, 1928, in New Weston, to Joseph and Josephine Wiess Stammen. On May 30, 1951, he married Marcella Hueker, who survives.
   Other survivors include four sons, Jim (Brenda) of Coldwater, Vernon (Deb) of Covington, Jeff (Jeanie) of Union City, Ind., and Lloyd Stammen of New Weston; six daughters, Linda (Dave) Fink, Mary (Ron) Goettemoeller, Joyce (Les) Heitkamp, all of Celina, Alice (Dan) Goubeaux of Ansonia, Gina (Dave) Wasson and Doris (Von) Ebeling, both of Union City, Ind.; four brothers, Alfons (Lois) of North Star, Edward of Versailles, Cyril (Tillie) and Carl (Ruth), both of St. Henry; four sisters, Margaret Langenkamp, Celina, Marie Langenkamp, North Star, Dolores (Joe) Groff, Kettering, and Eulalia (Elmer) Klosterman, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Stammen, New Weston, and Anna Mae Stammen, Coldwater; 28 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Herman, and Cornelius; two sisters, Coletta and Armella; and two grandchildren.
   A member of St. Bernards Catholic Church in Burkettsville, he also attended the men's society of the parish, Coldwater Eagles and Fort Recovery American Legion post 345. He was a World War II Army veteran.
   A farmer, he retired from the Union City Body Shop in Union City, Ind.
   Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where military rites will be performed by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
   Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
   Memorials can be directed to the American Heart Assoiciation.


Marjorie Weber

Marjorie L. Weber, 83, 305 Spruce St., Botkins, died at 10:29 p.m. Jan. 7, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. She was born Sept. 23, 1921, in New Bremen, the daughter of Edwin and Amanda Quellhorst Fark. On March 24, 1944, she married Donald H. Weber, who died Sept. 21, 1981.
   Survivors include two daughters, Jane Elliot of Botkins, and Marilyn (Jon) Schmalenberger, of Acton, Mass.; a brother. Vernon (Verneda) Fark, St. Marys; two sisters, Susie (Merlin) Hirschfeld, New Bremen, and Irene Berning, Botkins; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
   She was preceeded in death by two sisters, Edith Mcmillen and Lorma Scheer.
   A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins, she graduated from New Knoxville High School, New Knoxville. She retired from Crown Equipment in New Bremen and was in the Crown 25-year club.
   Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. Al Swartz officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
   Calling is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Ronald Wilkins Sr.

Ronald Eugene Wilkins Sr., 75, 7479 Celina-Mendon Road, Celina, died at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 8, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
   He was born March 22, 1929, in Spencerville to John and Edith Rhodes Wilkins. On Feb. 26, 1949, he married Rosemary Kohnen who survives.
   Other survivors are seven sons, Ronald Jr. (Connie), Larry (Susan), Matt and Steve, all of Celina, John of Oviedio, Fla., Tim of Spanaway, Wash. and Bob of Troy; three daughters, Suzan (Mike) Allen, Terre Haute, Ind., Janice Hanna, Coldwater, and Diane (Jeff) Alt, Celina; a sister, Ruby Clark, Spencerville; 17 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is a brother, Merle.
   He was retired after 45 years service as a machine repairman at New Idea, Coldwater. He formerly owned and operated Wilkins Body Shop in Celina. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America, Mercer County Sportsman's Club and The National Rifle Association.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home in Celina. Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
   Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Celina Area Visiting Nurses or the American Red Cross.


Jose Ybarra

Jose E. "Joe" Ybarra, 48, 9188 John Brown Road, Lot 8, Van Wert, died at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 9, 2005, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton due to injuries he received from a traffic accident Dec. 30.
   He was born Feb. 29, 1956, in Deming, N.M., to Benito and Carolina N. (Sera) Ybarra. On Jan. 2, 1990, he married Paula Walls, who survives.
   Other survivors are three sons, John Matthew (Shelly) Sadzewicz, St. Marys, Jeremy Michael (Dawn) Sadzewicz, Van Wert, and Jose E. II, Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Jessie Marie (Dan) Zartman, Van Wert, and Carrie Joann Yaney, Union City, Ind.; a sister, Maria Carolina Radcliff, Deming, N.M., and 10 grandchildren.
   He was employed as a truck driver for Countryside Waste Management , Celina.
   Services are pending at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Cremation is planned.
