Judith Bailey

Former Willshire resident Judith Kae Bailey, 63, 808 Candon Circle Southeast, Huntsville, Ala., died Feb. 8, 2005, at Crestwood Medical Center, Huntsville. Death was due to natural causes.
   She was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Kewanna, Ind., to Walter and Edna Louise Woolington Avery. On March 28, 1964, she married Delbert E. Bailey who survives.
   Also surviving are a brother, Lynn (Barbara) Avery, Celina; two nephews, a niece and several great-nieces and nephews.
   She taught at Joseph J. Bradley Middle School, Mountain Gap Middle School and Challenger Middle School, was an organist at four Huntsville-area churches for 10 years and an associate tour guide for escorted tours throughout the world. She graduated from Willshire High School and Anderson University and did postgraduate studies at Auburn University.
   Services are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Huntsville, the Revs. Dorothy Ann Webster, Talmadge Clayton and Martha Sue Hauer officiating.
   Calling is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Valhalla Funeral Home, Huntsville.


Sister Rose Habig

Sister Rose Habig, 93, of Dayton, died Feb. 7, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
   She was born Jan. 24, 1912, in Cincinnati, to John and Johanna Enneking Habig.
   Surviving are a sister, Jane Finch, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Habig, Cincinnati.
   A sister, Virginia, and a brother, Robert, are deceased.
   She entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood Sept. 8, 1927, and received the name Sister Mary Alphonsa.
   She spent 48 years in education as a teacher and principal, including assignments at schools in Dayton, Fort Wayne, Ind., Coldwater and McCartyville. She did office work in later years at the Early Childhood Education Center in Dayton before retiring to Salem Heights in 1990, where she continued to serve as organist until 2004.
   A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Salem Heights with calling until 1:40 p.m. Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at the same location with burial to follow at Salem Heights Cemetery.


Agnes Howe

Former New Knoxville resident Agnes Howe, 86, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 9:25 p.m. Feb. 7, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   She was born July 2, 1918, NewKnoxville, to Charles and Arminta Poppe Katterheinrich. On Sept. 3, 1938, she married Harold Howe who died Oct. 17, 1984.
   Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Linda) of Gas City, Ind., and Nicholas (Connie) of Coldwater; a sister, Dolores (Raymond) Poppe, New Knoxville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   A daughter-in-law, Patricia K. Howe, is deceased.
   She and her husband had owned Chic's Market in New Knoxville for more than 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, New Knoxville, and was a former member of the Methodist Women's Society.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to the church memorial fund.


Cecelia Klaus

Cecelia R. Klaus, 57, of Delphos, died at 9 p.m. Feb. 7, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following a short illness.
   She was born June 3, 1947, in Lima, to Philip P. and Lucinda Ann Meyer Klaus.
   Surviving are seven brothers, Albert (Connie), Kenneth (Sandy) and Philip Jr. (Rachel), all of Spencerville, Robert (Marilyn) of Tiffin, James (Sandra) of Wapakoneta, Richard of Middle Point, and Michael of Celina, and five sisters, Phyllis (George) Seffernick, Spring Grove, Ill., Louise (Robert) Renner, Van Wert, Rosemary (Gerald) Hesseling, Dorothy (Doug) Geise and Cheryl (Dan) Theobald, all of Delphos.
   She had been employed at Huffy Corp. for 27 years and also worked at I & K and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, both of Delphos. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the FOE Auxiliary, also of Delphos.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Landeck.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Delphos. The auxiliary will conduct services there at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by a parish wake service at 8 p.m.
   Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Arthritis Foundation or American Diabetes Association.


Marian Krauss

Marian L. Krauss, 82, Hillcrest Drive, St. Marys, died at 9:40 p.m. Feb. 8, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   Arrangements are pending at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Winona Mees

Winona C. Mees, 96, of Wapakoneta, died at 6:10 p.m. Feb. 8, 2005, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
   Arrangements are pending at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.


Michael Springer

Michael Ray Springer, 46, 304 Northview Drive, Coldwater, died at 6:47 a.m. Feb. 7, 2005, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, following a sudden illness.
   He was born April 22, 1958, in Celina, to Eugene and Frances Partin Springer. His mother survives in Coldwater. On Feb. 22, 1976, he married Becky Hall who survives in Celina.
   Also surviving are three daughters, Shelly S. of Casa Grande, Ariz., Angela Schmidt, Montezuma, and Donna of Celina; a brother, Norman of Coldwater; a sister, Nicla (Danny) Gates, Celina; and 10 grandchildren.
   A brother, Jeffrey, is deceased.
   He formerly worked as a driver for the Amish and was a member of Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Cemetery in Van Wert County.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
